As a first-generation Haitian-American, my earliest summers were spent with my grandparents in the bustling capital of Port-au-Prince. The energy was familial and communal—vibrant market scenes, neighbors trading rice for corn, and us kids sipping coconut water straight from the source. We’d venture to Saint-Marc, piled into the back of my grandfather Papi Mica’s pickup truck, headed for his sugarcane plantation. While he proudly surveyed his harvest, we gnawed through sweet stalks of cane—pure joie de vivre. No summer was complete without day-long treks to Ibo Beach, where we swam in the clearest waters and I indulged in my favorite fruit: mango.
After over 15 years as a beauty marketing executive—including leadership roles at two of the world’s largest Korean beauty companies—I was deeply immersed in global skincare innovation, product development, and cultural nuance. But behind the high-performance pace was a personal reckoning. After being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis (MS), I made the intentional decision to build a life around anti-burnout and radical self-care.
This path—intertwining healing, heritage, and high-efficacy ingredients—inspired sēd skin: a luxury, Caribbean-rooted skincare brand rooted in wellness, ancestry, and ritual.
Ma famille survived by living off the land; planting seeds, watching them grow, and harvesting what would become legacy. That philosophy informs everything we create. sēd represents Haiti’s rich history and agriculture with a reverence for the seed: when cold-pressed sans heat, chemicals or bleaching, our organic seed oils naturally retain nourishing fatty acids, regenerating antioxidants, and resurfacing amino acids—just a few of many benefits from active plant compounds.
Our launch product, the Trinity Capsule, is a nod to Haiti’s national fruit and the power of plant medicine. It features Organic Mango Seed Oil, a lightweight, non-greasy face and body oil derived from 100% cold-pressed mango kernels. Since then, the collection has expanded to include Organic Hibiscus, Passionfruit, and Guava Seed Oils—each uniquely formulated to hydrate, heal, and restore skin from head to toe.
